Skidby Mill. The last working windmill in Yorkshire.

Welcome to the Windmill Walkers' web site

Over twenty years old and still thriving!  The Windmill Walkers rambling group was established in 1999.  It was formed in Skidby, in the East Riding of Yorkshire, where you will find Skidby Mill - the only working corn windmill in East Yorkshire (currently being refurbished) - hence the club name.

With over 70 adult members, the club is managed by a committee of annually elected volunteers.

We concentrate on a programme of member led, weekly Wednesday walks of some 5 to 7 miles which normally attract around 30 walkers, and longer weekend walks once each month on the 3rd Sunday involving 10 or 12 regular walkers.

Wednesday walks usually start at 10:00am ending at about 1:00pm.  Sometimes we arrange an optional lunch at a suitable pub or cafe - (this has been halted during the current health crisis).  We take a break at about 11am for a drink and snack.  Most walks take place in the East Riding of Yorkshire with occasional ventures to North Yorkshire, Lincolnshire and beyond.

If you would like to try a walk with us as a guest you will be made very welcome.  Please contact us by e-mail.  We hope that you enjoy our company so much that after two walks you will want to become a member.  Please wear adequate footwear and clothing.  Whilst we take care when planning walks, when you do walk with the club, you are responsible for your own safety and ensuring that you are fit enough to take part.

Annual membership is £10.00, renewable in January.  You may try a couple of walks with us as a guest before you join.  Our constitution, data protection policy and membership application form are available in the Document Store.
